Sweden Sends Advanced Weaponry to Sweden Sends Advanced Weaponry to Ukraine Without Restrictions Without Restrictions

Sweden has taken a unique approach by supplying Ukraine with advanced weaponry without imposing restrictions on their use. This stance sets Sweden apart from many other countries that typically place limitations on the use of their military aid. Here’s a look at the sophisticated equipment Sweden has provided to Ukraine:
Swedish Foreign Affairs Minister Tobias Billström recently shared with DW News that the weapons supplied to Ukraine are free from use restrictions. “We have not imposed any restrictions on the use of the weapons we’ve supplied to Ukraine, and we do not plan to do so. Ukraine has effectively utilized the equipment they’ve received.”
Among the advanced weaponry Sweden has donated are some of the world’s best infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, and artillery. Notable contributions include:

  • Armored Personnel Carrier PBV 302: An older but reliable vehicle.
  • Stridsvagn 122 Tanks: A specialized Leopard 2 tank version modified for increased protection. With enhancements like improved side armour and a reinforced roof, this tank offers superior protection against anti-tank attacks and is the most heavily armoured Leopard 2 variant sent to Ukraine.

Strf 9040C / CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles: A modern 42-ton tracked vehicle with additional armor. It was designed in the 1990s and offers high protection against 30 mm calibre gunfire and handheld anti-tank weapons. In its Swedish configuration, it’s the most heavily armed IFV in NATO. It has a 40 mm automatic cannon that can penetrate over 150 mm of armour, making it highly effective against tanks like the T-72.
