Exciting news from the Swedish Royal Family: Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip are expecting their fourth child! The Royal Palace shared the happy announcement on their website, revealing that the couple, already parents to Princes Alexander, Gabriel, and Julian, will welcome another little one in February 2025.
According to the Royal Court, “Princess Sofia is doing well, and the birth is expected in February 2025. There will be no changes to her official schedule this autumn.”
Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip’s love story began in 2010 when they met through mutual friends. Their relationship quickly made headlines, especially since Sofia had previously appeared on the reality show “Paradise Hotel” and posed for the men’s magazine Slitz. Despite the initial scrutiny, Sofia proved herself to be much more than before, becoming a yoga instructor and launching the charity organization Project Playground in 2010. Since 2016, she has also served as the honorary chairperson of Sophiahemmet in Stockholm and even volunteered at the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping with tasks like cleaning and laundry.
Prince Carl Philip, born on May 13, 1979, was originally the heir to the throne. However, a constitutional amendment 1980 passed that title to his older sister, Crown Princess Victoria.
The royal couple, along with their three children, resides at Villa Solbacken on Djurgården in Stockholm, and they’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of their newest family member.
