Football Legend Sven-Göran Eriksson Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Sven-Göran Eriksson, former England national team coach, has passed away at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer. The Swedish football legend, who had an illustrious coaching career spanning over four decades, succumbed to the illness, which he publicly revealed in January as being terminal with a prognosis of approximately one year to live.

Eriksson made history as the first foreign coach to lead the England national team, serving from 2001 to 2006. His coaching journey also took him to the national teams of the Ivory Coast and the Philippines. In addition to his tenure with England, Eriksson had stints at Manchester City and Leicester City.

On the club level, Eriksson managed several prominent teams, including Benfica Lisbon, AS Roma, and Lazio Roma, demonstrating his widespread influence across European football. His impact on the sport will be remembered for his innovative strategies and contributions to teams around the world.
